Magee Renovation

West Excavation, originally uploaded by WG Finley.

The construction committee took a tour of the Magee Middle School site today. Things are going along well. It’s an old building so of course we’ve run into a few surprises here and there but overall things are in good shape.

Head on over to Flickr to check out the full set.

Can you give an update on the Magee renovation as of January, 2008? What will the technology look like there and how is the construction going?

I should go back out to the site and do some photos and update everyone. Things are going well albeit a bit slow given the brutal December. The nice weather (up until the extreme cold the past couple of days) has allowed our contractors to catch up and pick up a lot of time. In February we will better assess where we are at.

As far as technology that is coming along really well. We’re currently assessing and working with vendors on bids for computers, we’ve had a PC vendor and Apple give us bids. Technology-wise this will be completely up to date and we’re looking at wireless deployment. Net56 has been doing a great job preparing for this project and we should have more information to get to you once we firm up vendors and products.

    Apple would be awesome.

I think that Apple offers a lot that we would find value in — particularly all the immersive multimedia programs that come with Macs right out of the box. Of course, whatever we do has to work within our infrastructure and be cost effective. We’ll see if that’s the case or not.
