My wife and I also had pit tickets (second row, just left of center) and would have to agree. Dennis was drunk, slurring his words and losing his place in his stand-up. Also there was very little of his material that I hadn't heard on HBO specials- Yet it was a thrill to see Dennis Live and so close.

He clearly seemed bummed, and his frankness about HBO and being done probably had a alot to do with it. I always enjoyed and appreciated Dennis for his intelligence and ability to speak his mind. His delivery seemed to reflect the problems the material caused in his professional life. Too Bad...I agree with his assement of the situation exactly.

The encore was the very best part of the show. He seemed more himself and the stories he told seemed genuine and from the heart. He didn't seem drunk then, he seemed like himself. It was nice to get such insight into a celebrities life. We very much enjoyed ourselves.

AS I said in my post, I really don't think he was drunk. He seemed tired to me at first like he had been sleeping backstage and they woke him up like 2 minutes before he went on. I could have it wrong though and you are not the first one who mentioned to me they thought he was drunk.

He just seemed to be off at first and as the act went on he definitely got more into it and the encore was the highlight of the evening for me.

I enjoyed your review of Dennis Miller ...but tell me: sitting that close to him, did you not notice that he was particularly TOASTED when he came out onstage? I was so bummed! He slurred words, repeated himself (and not in the comedic timing way) and seemed very stiff. Good thinkgwe are such big fans of his, or we would have left. We like him so much, we wanted it to be better than he was.

We were also close (behind the pit). I felt embarrassed for him. Maybe it was nerves: no one else seemed to notice he was lit -- or was he?!

We also thoroughly enjoyed the opening act. Hope we see him again some day.
