Once again, this isn't about the event, this is about the school district doing its due diligence to protect grounds owned by ALL of the people of Round Lake and not just the Village of Round Lake and following proper procedures.

No one is saying this event wouldn't have been allowed, what I'm saying is proper procedures needs to be followed on the district's end to 1) ensure that free use of school property was both legal and appropriate and 2) protect the school district from any liability for an event conducted on school grounds but not under its control.

Any personal injury attorney looking for deep pockets to sue would immediately turn to the school district as the deepest pockets, we're the largest employer in Round Lake, we have the most assets, we have the largest stream of revenue -- the district needs to be protected from liability.

The organizers of the event thought they were following the proper procedure, they weren't and the school district needs to take steps to make sure that doesn't happen again which is why we're changing board policy in this regard.

I think that we finally do something nice for the Village of Round Lake and someone has to complain. That person must not have attended the fair or else they would have know about where the beer was served. That is what gives Round Lake a bad name.

Sending a reply to Sean via email but, again, the issue is not the event itself but the procedures behind it.

Hi Guy,

When you get a chance, please send me an email with a number so I can discuss what happened with the festival. I am the chairman for the fest.

For the record, no beer was sold or allowed on school grounds. It was sold and contained on Hart road. Please contact me and I can give you the rest of the details.

Thanks
